8 Days Great Migration Safari – Witness Nature’s Grandest Spectacle

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

You arrive in Arusha, Tanzania’s safari gateway. After landing, you’ll be met at the airport and transferred to your boutique hotel. If time allows, take a relaxed city tour and witness local life, or head to Kilima Moto for a sunset view over the hills. In the evening, meet your guide and fellow travelers for a briefing—your Great Migration adventure begins tomorrow.

Day 2: Arusha → Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, depart Arusha and drive ~2 hours to Tarangire NP. Famous for its ancient baobab trees and large elephant herds, Tarangire offers your first immersive wildlife experience. Game drives lead you through diverse landscapes. Later, enjoy a picnic by the river, with wildlife all around. Overnight in a lodge with views of the park.

Day 3: Karatu – Serengeti (via Ngorongoro Area)

Journey from Tarangire through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area toward the Serengeti. Pause at stunning viewpoints overlooking the Ngorongoro Crater, then continue to Seronera in Central Serengeti. On arrival, enjoy a game drive at dusk. Wildlife numbers increase, with chances of spotting predators in action.

Day 4: Northern Serengeti Game Drives (Mara River)

Today you move into Northern Serengeti, where the Great Migration often gathers near the Mara River. Early morning game drives set the pace. Pack lunch, follow animal tracks, wildlife crossings, predators on the prowl. Stay in a tented camp in the Northern Serengeti. Evening brings spectacular sunsets and star-filled skies.

Day 5: Mara River Crossing & Serengeti Plains

Continuing your wildlife journey, today focuses on following migration herds gathering upstream, possibly witnessing dramatic river crossings of wildebeest and zebra. Game drives across majestic plains, watching predators follow the migration trail. Return to your same camp for dinner under the stars.

Day 6: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater Rim

After early breakfast and a final game drive in Serengeti, you depart toward Ngorongoro. Enjoy the drive with wildlife sightings en route. Arrive at your lodge on the crater rim in the late afternoon. Views across the crater at sunset are unforgettable.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater Tour – Return to Arusha

Descend into Ngorongoro Crater at sunrise to see one of the densest population of wildlife in Africa. Rhinos, lions, elephants, and an array of birds await. After lunch, you’ll drive back to Arusha for one last evening. Relax, share stories, and enjoy a comfort lodge.

Day 8: Materuni Waterfalls & Departure (Optional Add-On)

If you’d like to add a cultural and scenic experience to the end of your safari, spend your final morning exploring the lush foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. Take a gentle hike through banana and coffee plantations to reach the stunning Materuni Waterfalls, cascading into a cool natural pool. Afterwards, visit a local coffee farm where you’ll join the villagers in preparing and tasting fresh Tanzanian coffee. After lunch, you’ll be transferred to the airport in time for your flight home.
